I first became smitten with photography at age 13. My beloved paternal grandmother gave me a point & shoot camera to keep me busy on my first overseas excursion to Argentina.
This love for photography was deepened later in life at age 19 when I began studying Fine Art Photography at the University of Arizona in Tucson.
I received the Todd Walker Award for photography http://personal.riverusers.com/~jdf/todd_walker/scholarship.html as well as the Albert and Kathryn Haldeman Award for photography from the University of Arizona and volunteered at The Center for Creative Photography: www.creativephotography.org where I helped organize the archives of Ansel Adams, Edward Weston & Garry Winogrand.
At age 25, I continued my quest for learning about art & photography at Bennington College in Bennington, VT, where I spent two years working towards & completing an MFA.
I find joy in capturing candid & whimsical moments. As well as addressing the physical & symbolic interplay between lightness & darkness, in its endless forms.
I currently live with my dapper husband & two daughters in Seattle, Washington, where I work as a freelance & art photographer.
